What It Can't Do

Metabase isn't built for enterprise-scale analytics. There's no data modeling layer like Looker's LookML. Row-level security exists but is basic compared to Tableau or Power BI. The visualization library covers the essentials (bar, line, pie, map, pivot) but lacks statistical charts, small multiples, and advanced formatting. For teams with complex data governance needs, Metabase is a starting point, not an end state.
