Deskera caught my attention back in 2019 when a client in Singapore needed an ERP that wouldn't break the bank. Most all-in-one platforms at this price point cut corners somewhere. Deskera cuts fewer than you'd expect.

What You Actually Get

The platform covers four core modules: accounting, CRM, HR/payroll, and manufacturing (MRP). Each module works well enough on its own, but the real value comes from how they connect. Create a sales order in CRM, and it flows into accounting and inventory automatically. No manual re-entry. No CSV exports.

The accounting module handles multi-currency transactions across 40+ currencies. Bank reconciliation works smoothly. The MRP module tracks bill of materials, production planning, and shop floor operations — features you'd normally pay $200+/user/month for elsewhere.

Where It Shines

Setup takes hours, not weeks. I had a 15-person manufacturing company running on Deskera within 3 days. The UI is clean and modern — a rarity in ERP software. Mobile apps for iOS and Android actually work, which sounds basic but isn't a given in this space.

The built-in HR module handles payroll for multiple countries including Singapore, Malaysia, India, and the US. That's genuinely useful for companies with distributed teams.

Where It Falls Short

But here's the thing — why do so few mid-market companies use it? Customization hits a wall fast. You can't build complex approval workflows or add custom modules. Reporting is decent but not deep. If you need 50 custom fields on a purchase order, look elsewhere.

The CRM module feels like an afterthought compared to dedicated tools like HubSpot or Pipedrive. It handles basic pipeline management but lacks advanced automation sequences. Integration options beyond the built-in modules are limited — the API exists but documentation could be better.

Deskera works best for companies with 5-100 employees who want one platform instead of stitching together multiple tools. It won't replace enterprise-grade ERPs, and it shouldn't try to. For SMBs in manufacturing, distribution, or professional services, it's a smart pick that punches above its weight class.
