AddSecure: Fleet Management Meets European IoT

AddSecure started in Stockholm in 2006 as a secure communications company. Over the years—and through a string of acquisitions—they evolved into a broader connected services platform spanning fleet management, smart alarms, smart transport, and IoT infrastructure. The fleet division (formerly Vehco, RGK, and other acquired brands) serves transport and logistics companies primarily across Scandinavia, the Benelux region, the UK, and Germany.

This isn't a company that decided to build fleet software from scratch. It's a company that bought proven fleet solutions and stitched them into a larger connected platform. That acquisition-driven approach has pros and cons.

Cold Chain and Temperature Monitoring

If you transport food, pharmaceuticals, or other temperature-sensitive goods across Europe, AddSecure is worth a serious look. Their temperature monitoring system tracks cargo temperature continuously, logs it for compliance documentation (HACCP, GDP), and alerts drivers and dispatchers when thresholds are breached.

The combination of GPS location data and temperature data in one platform means you can pinpoint exactly when and where a temperature excursion occurred—not just that it happened. For food distributors dealing with EU food safety regulations, this capability eliminates the manual temperature logging that many smaller operations still rely on.

Sustainability and Carbon Tracking

AddSecure leans into the European sustainability agenda harder than most fleet competitors. Their platform calculates CO2 emissions per vehicle, per route, and per shipment. Eco-driving scores push drivers toward fuel-efficient behavior. For companies reporting under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the data feeds directly into environmental impact disclosures.

This isn't just green marketing. European regulations are mandating emissions reporting for an increasing number of companies, and having automated, audit-ready data from your fleet operations is becoming a genuine compliance requirement rather than a nice-to-have.

Core Fleet Tracking

The GPS tracking fundamentals work well. Real-time vehicle location, route replay, geofencing, driver behavior monitoring, and maintenance reminders. The platform integrates with common European tachograph systems for driver hours compliance, which matters for operations under EU driving time regulations.

The web interface is functional. Clean Scandinavian design, but nothing that'll make you forget Samsara exists. Mobile apps cover the basics for drivers and managers.

The Honest Weaknesses

Brand confusion is real. AddSecure has acquired multiple fleet companies and hasn't fully unified them. Depending on your country, you might encounter different product names, different interfaces, and different support teams. The integration story is improving, but it's not fully there yet.

Outside of Northern and Western Europe, coverage drops off significantly. Southern and Eastern European markets are thinner, and there's essentially no presence in North America, Asia, or Africa.

Advanced AI features are limited. If you want predictive analytics, machine learning-powered route optimization, or sophisticated video telematics, AddSecure can't match what Samsara, Geotab, or even Webfleet deliver.
