DEAR Is Dead, Long Live Cin7 Core

DEAR Systems launched in Australia in 2012 and built a loyal following among product businesses in the ANZ and UK markets. The Xero integration was best-in-class. Cin7 acquired DEAR in mid-2022 for an undisclosed amount and spent the next year rebranding it as Cin7 Core. The product hasn't changed dramatically — same features, same interface, new name.

What Cin7 Core Does Well

Multi-channel inventory management is the core strength (pun intended). Connect Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, eBay, and your own B2B portal. Stock syncs across channels in real time. The purchasing workflow handles supplier management, purchase orders, and goods receipt with automatic stock updates.

Manufacturing is surprisingly capable for the price. Multi-level BOMs, work orders, auto-assembly, and production costing all work smoothly. The auto-assembly feature triggers production automatically when finished goods stock drops below a threshold — clever for businesses with predictable demand.

Xero and QuickBooks Integration

The accounting integration is where DEAR/Cin7 Core shines. The Xero sync is the most refined in the industry — charts of accounts, tax rates, invoices, and bills all map perfectly. QuickBooks integration is solid too. You'll save 5-10 hours per week on accounting data entry.

How It Differs from Cin7 Omni

Cin7 Core lacks the advanced EDI, 3PL management, and complex multi-warehouse routing that Cin7 Omni provides. If you sell to major retailers or manage 3+ fulfillment partners, you need Omni. If you're a growing product brand selling through your own channels and marketplaces, Core handles it at half the price.
