What It Does Well

Response quality with Llama 3.1 405B is genuinely good for a free product. It won't hallucinate less than competitors, but the answers are structured well and usually relevant.

Image generation through Imagine is a highlight. Describe what you want in a WhatsApp chat and get an image back in seconds. The quality sits between DALL-E 2 and DALL-E 3 — not stunning, but perfectly serviceable for social media posts, profile pictures, and casual creative projects. No subscription needed.

The multilingual support is strong across the 100+ languages Meta supports. If you chat in Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, or Arabic, Meta AI handles context and nuance better than most competitors for non-English conversations. This makes sense given Meta's global user base.

Where It Falls Short

Complex reasoning is the weak spot. Multi-step math problems, detailed code generation, nuanced analytical essays — Meta AI can attempt these but produces noticeably weaker results than ChatGPT or Claude. There's no equivalent to o1's reasoning chain or Claude's extended thinking.
