Google Workspace bundles email, storage, documents, video calls and team chat into one subscription. Real-time collaboration in Docs and Sheets is still the best in the business. It's simpler than Microsoft 365 but its standalone Chat app is the weakest part of the package.

Day-to-Day Experience

It's fast and low-friction. New employees already know Gmail and Docs from personal use, so onboarding is short. Everything is searchable through Google's search, which is — unsurprisingly — excellent. The admin console is clean compared to Microsoft's sprawl.

The Honest Trade-offs

Google Chat is the weak link. It's improved, but it still feels like an afterthought next to Slack or even Teams — threading is awkward and the app ecosystem is thin. Offline support exists but is fiddly. Docs and Sheets, while collaborative, still trail Word and Excel for heavy power-user formatting and complex spreadsheets. And pricing climbs once you need more storage or advanced security.
