The local support model is a key differentiator. Paychex has over 100 offices nationwide with dedicated payroll specialists. Companies can meet in-person with their representative, which matters for businesses that prefer phone calls and face-to-face meetings over chat support.

Benefits administration includes health insurance, 401(k), FSA/HSA, and workers' compensation. Paychex is a licensed insurance agency and retirement plan administrator, so they handle these directly rather than integrating with third parties.

The PEO option (Paychex PEO) provides complete HR outsourcing for companies that don't want internal HR staff. Paychex becomes the co-employer, handling payroll, benefits, compliance, and HR administration.

Pricing varies widely based on services. Basic payroll might start around $40/month plus per-check fees. Full HR suites cost significantly more. The PEO model charges a percentage of payroll. You'll need a quote for accurate pricing.

The tradeoff is the interface—Paychex Flex is functional but not as polished as newer competitors. Some users also report inconsistent experiences depending on their local rep.
