Fleet Maintenance Done Right

Most CMMS platforms treat fleet maintenance as an afterthought—a tab alongside facilities management that tracks vehicle service intervals but misses the complexity that transportation departments actually deal with. ManagerPlus was built to handle fleet maintenance as a first-class feature, and that difference shows throughout the product.

IFS acquired ManagerPlus in 2021, adding the platform to its portfolio alongside IFS Field Service Management and IFS Asset Management. That acquisition means ManagerPlus now has the backing of a major enterprise software vendor, which matters for long-term product stability. It also means the platform is increasingly positioned as an entry point into the broader IFS ecosystem.

The core customer base tells you a lot about where ManagerPlus works: municipal governments managing police and fire vehicle fleets, utilities managing hundreds of service trucks and heavy equipment, transportation companies tracking DOT compliance across driver and vehicle records, and county road departments maintaining both equipment and facilities.

Where Fleet Maintenance Shines

DOT compliance tracking is thorough. Vehicle inspection records, driver qualification files, hours of service logs, and regulatory report generation are all built in. For transportation operations that face FMCSA audits, having compliance documentation in the same system as maintenance records is genuinely valuable.

Fuel management tracks consumption across vehicles with cost-per-mile calculations. Integration with fleet fuel cards from major providers means fuel data flows in automatically rather than requiring manual entry. Managers can spot vehicles with abnormal fuel consumption before it becomes a major mechanical issue.

Preventive maintenance scheduling handles both time-based intervals (every 3,000 miles) and usage-based triggers (every 6 months or 5,000 hours, whichever comes first). Work orders auto-generate when thresholds approach, and technicians get mobile notifications. Parts inventory tracks vehicle-specific parts across storerooms.

The Real Limitations

The interface has not kept up with modern CMMS design standards. Navigation feels clunky compared to UpKeep, Limble, or even newer fleet-specific tools. Mobile experience is functional but not polished—technicians accustomed to consumer apps will find the learning curve real.

Post-acquisition support quality has received mixed reviews. Some customers report slower response times and reduced attention compared to the pre-IFS era. Integration between ManagerPlus and IFS Field Service Management is possible but complex to configure.

Best Fit

Municipal governments, utilities, transportation companies, and county governments managing both vehicle fleets and facilities. Any organization where a significant portion of assets are mobile equipment rather than fixed facility infrastructure.
